Great area to camp for 48 hrs free camping plenty of space around and close to the river,great fishing and a kiosk open daily with hot food, coffee,tea ice creams,firewood,bait,ice etc

Good spot. Very popular but plenty of spots If you a full self contained the North side is quite. There is a little road noise but not bad

Beautifully trees area. In 1988 a far-sighted council clerk organised the planting of over 300 native trees in the area. Now magnificent.

Toilets locked for several years!! Two stories. Someone filled them with cement, or people emptied cassettes into them. So please install a dump point. Big generic signs on them, intended to advise the public of work to be done, but no details filled in.

Walking distance to the Historical Village.

As with most free camp sites there always seems to be a few idiots who spoil it for the majority ... although mostly on weekends. Was also a bit disappointed the toilet block on the north side near historical village was closed (hopefully for repair). But in general the fellow campers were quiet, friendly and considerate. Certainly worth a look.

This is a lovely one or two (max) night stopover. We stopped on the higher northern which overlooks the lower side. The northern side is preferred if there's a chance of rain and it is grassier and less dusty. The toilet block was closed but there is a temporary one in it's place.
