Ordered the pepperoni pizza which came out quickly, unfortunately made with pre-made frozen bases that are dense, ate 3 pieces but it wasn’t great. I thought I’d try something else so went for the chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy, the chips were over cooked and did not taste very nice, the schnitzel crumb tasted stale and a bit chewy, chicken was pretty dry. Unfortunately it just wasn’t the place for me. Cool old pub though with plenty of seating and friendly staff.

5/10, pizza was ok, I Ordered "home made" rissoles, very poor portion, rissoles 0/10 mash is from a packet. $30 for horrible "home made" food!!!
$10 for a cup of chips. Service was 10/10 very friendly but the food needs attention. 5 stars for service, 2 for food!

My partner Danny and I recently stopped off at The Australian Hotel for a breakfast on our way through to the outback. We met the owner and Tracey the cook who were super lovely. The food cooked by Tracey was delivered cooked to perfection, and you can really see the love delivered on the plate. We highly recommend dropping into this friendly spot for some great food and coffee if you're ever travelling through Winton anytime soon!

Aware that it’s in receivership, but maybe if you had a wall instead of a curtain for the ‘ensuite’ you may of had repeat customers? Hardly a 4 person ‘cabin’ if there are only 2 beds - more like a donga with not enough enough room to swing a cat

Doing a 12 day pub crawl through western Qld and 'the Track',this was our first stop.
Good typical pub room with clean post Covid facilities.
Told about the chook,prawn and avo dinner by mate's who stayed 2 months prior and we were not let down....great feed!

It's a pub...get over it all you 2 and 3 star folk.Stay at a strip motel otherwise.

Disappointing roast of the day (beef) on Saturday night. Dianne sauce was awful as was most of the meal. We don’t usually leave reviews but if this helps improve what is offered then it will have been worth it. Roast is normally a good choice but not here.

Dropped in for a Friday night dinner, pizza. Really disappointed with the waitress. She mixed our order up with another table so we waited 57 minutes only to be presented with a pizza my wife could not eat. The waitress admitted she was at fault and promised we'd receive the replacement, correct, pizza within 10 minutes. Too much like Faulty Towers! Of well, now for a glass of red while we wait. To her credit, the pizza did arrive in the 10 minutes.

We had a meal at this hotel and were invited to enjoy the free show out in the beer garden - on sheep and sheep-shearing and sheepdogs. It was a most enjoyable little show, and amazing that it was free. Staff are so friendly. Food was good. All round a great experience and wonderful introduction to Winton (both history and hospitality!).
