Had a 20mm top entry conduit enter the board via plain scrwq adaptor. After a heavy storm our gate stopped working. I opened up the board and about 2-3 tea spoons of water was inside the board.

One of my swing gates doesnt open and close level, it has loose mounting screws, so the bracket has twisted sidewise causing the swing gate to swing uneven to the point where it cant close properly.

None of this was covered under warranty. The board, clearly damaged from water, was blammed on an incident months before the storm.

I went into the office and showed them videos of the gate not sliding evening or closing flash, the loose wall brackets, the water inside the control board, the conduit which isnt sealed. But this was all blamed on an incident that happend months ago.

Not owning up for poor installation. Through the pain of waiting extra months for QBCC to step in and support my video and pictures, i decided to just buy a card direct from them for $350 and get a different contractor to install and maintain it.

After being insulted on google reviews I have decided to "open up" and give this more detailed response.

I don't write a lot of reviews - a few negative ones and a few really positive ones. This is one of the latter. From the moment that Charlie came out to quote, the experience with Secure Entry has been really positive. We wanted a customised design - no problem; an updated intercom system connected to wifi and phone apps - yes sir; integrated keypads and multiple remotes - not an issue! Can you do all of this professionally and at a fair price - of course! And they did. They kept me informed the whole time, and kept to their timeline and budget. There was a small hiccup at installation (supply issues) so they upgraded me to the next level closure system and included an additional backup battery. I cannot say anything negative about this. The job is a quality finish, it works just as it was said to do (actually even better), and my wife is super happy (and that means a happy life!). To the whole team, thank you for a job very well done.

Motor installer arrived on time, was neat, very capable and explained all that had to happen to achieve the best outcome.

We used Secure Entry for a job running into five figures (it's featured on their web front page).

The metalwork looks great and we're happy with it. That's the three stars. But they seem out of their depth in other areas.

After the gate closed on our car, causing significant damage, we enquired about fitting sensors but were told it would make no difference. We had someone else install sensors and it did make a very big difference.

For the black powdercoated pedestrian gate, they said we had to use a mismatched silver knob to achieve Energex compliance. It was not compliant, we found out later from a visiting Energex representative.

We just discovered that the gate can be easily opened without a key. For a company that has 'secure' in its title, this is disappointing.

In conclusion, their metalwork is good but for electro-mechanical, compliance and security work I'd recommend specialists.

UPDATE following owner's reply 8 months later:

I can understand you feeling confused and misled, as that's exactly what I felt when your company told me that sensors would not prevent the incident that caused damage to our car. I have an email trail to back this up.

May I suggest that, when you receive a respectful review with some constructive criticism, you learn from it, rather than getting defensive when you receive less than 4 stars.

Confidence in Brisbane & Coast.

Living in another state has it’s challenges, particularly when organizing a project such as gate and fence for my investment property on the Gold Coast. I wanted to use a company that could organize every aspect of my project. I have had shocking experiences using unqualified “Tradies” from the net in the past on other projects. This time I went direct and made a phone call. I gained significant confidence with their processes, from the quote being prompt and my questions being answered. There was a lot more involved then I initially understood. I loved the design drawings that were offered as a part of their standard process.

Being a professional myself, I appreciated how efficient they were. I can genuinely recommend.
