This is a winery situated along the Albany Highway in Mt. Barker. This was the first winery and cellar door in the region back in 1975. Today you'll find a cellar door and cafe open from 10am to 4pm daily if interested in a bit of wine and food tasting while in the area.

We recently passed by near closing time to grab a bottle of the Three Lion Riesling to enjoy back at our apartment rental in Albany. On the whole, it was pretty good, light, a bit crispy with floral and citrusy notes, a good wine to enjoy with seafood. Overall, nice environs, would make for a enjoyable place to try a bit of tasting next time around.

Wonderful lunch and glass of wine. Pizzas were so tasty, the accompanying wine was perfect. We had to take ½ the pizzas with us as could not finish them. They were lovely warmed up in the evening.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend this for a visit.

The five stars are largely for Catherine, who took my wife and I through the wine tasting. The white wines are outstanding - being the South of WA the reds weren’t to my liking - that doesn’t mean they’re not good- I just like Shiraz and Cab Sav to be quite heavy. The whites were amazing. Catherine’s casual articulation of the local history was amazing, on just about any query (whether it be about the wine, the name Plantagenet, historical settlement in the region, 12th Century English King’s bloodlines). She is excellent at her job and was indicative of the vibe the whole winery gives off. Highly recommend.

Amazing staff and wine selection. Jennie and Sara were angels and very informative about the wines. 10/10 would recommend for all vino lovers and the good food was the cherry on top.

An awesome winery. The cellar door ladies are lovely and have a great sense of humour and local knowledge. They made us feel very welcome and we highly recommend an afternoon spent here.

Its a calm and quiet place. Theres wine available. Theres alcohol in all drinks. For people who prefer non alcoholic divert yourself out of there.

Great front of house winery and kitchen just before you enter Mount Barker townsite. Well established winery and you cannot travel to the South West without visiting! Limited lunch menu but tasty. $40 for platter for two.

Totally Disappointed.
I thought that went you go to a winery & had a meal you would AT LEAST offered a wine list or suggested what wines goes with the meal
BUT OH NO not at Plantagenet Winery. Water was only offered. The women behind the counter/bar hid behind her computer screen & the other women was happily taste testing different wines while we were having lunch with No offer of wine to us.
We have had wonderful experiences at other cellar doors spending over $200 on selected wines that we have tasted but didn't bother spending a cent at the Dissapointing Plantagenet Winery Mt Barker.
