I've always been a strong believer in supporting local businesses, so took my trailer down to Kerr Engineering to have some basic welding work done, including replacement of a jockey wheel, fitment of some new stabilisers, and brackets for a water tank (I supplied all parts).
I left the trailer there, they had it for the afternoon and then picked it up again. It took them a few weeks to send the bill, and when I got it is was gobsmacked. Over $1500! when I queried the costs, I received a very matter of fact response, and they advised me that their rates for welding work (done by an apprentice in a few hours) was $118 per hour plus GST, not negotiable!
Then they hassled me for payment a week after I had already transferred the funds. I really couldn't recommend them based on the high cost, average quality and their aggressive attitude towards their customers. Beware!
