“Unique Blood Donation Experience”

Donating blood at this place was a unique experience for me. For the first time, I was rejected due to low hemoglobin levels, even though I had always been able to donate in Indonesia. Fortunately, on my second attempt, I was eligible and finally experienced blood donation in this country.

Overall, the staff were friendly, and the snacks and drinks provided after donation were delicious, free-flowing, and nutritious, including milk, cheese, coffee, and more. The free Wi-Fi was also a great bonus.

Very friendly and professional waiters. I booked a table for 11am and they were a little late but offered me some refreshment and snacks. Then they will ask to get a bag of blood or plasma depending on what they need the most before sitting you at your table. Nice choice of food, vegan option and milkshake possibilities. I will be back.

Donating One's Various Organs to Others/Modern Generosity

Nowadays, thanks to all the advances in science, we have other forms of generosity open to us. For example, we can give blood. We can also donate our organs to those who have a bad heart, who have lost a kidney, or have bad lungs. We can even give our eyes. These are modern ways of practicing generosity.

The staff member there were super friendly, helpful and professional. It was a very busy Friday morning with no empty seats in the donation area and people walked in non-stop/queuing. Georgia the receptionist and Laura the nurse, and all other staff walked passed me, made sure I was comfortable about every steps, followed my pace, and answered all my questions clearly with heartwarming smiles and friendly chats (as it was my first ever donation!)
The working area was clean and bright. The range of refreshments surprised me and the rest area has nice street view.
It was a nice experience to do great thing for the community. 🙂

I was very upset that I couldn’t donate blood today. I’m a foreigner and don’t speak English. The lady there brought me a paper to sign for plasma donation, but I just wanted to donate blood. She kept explaining that blood donation works differently here in Australia, that blood is blood and plasma is plasma. I just want to donate blood! In Brazil, I’ve been a blood donor for over 20 years, going every 3 or 4 months. Unfortunately, my first experience here in Australia wasn’t a good one. The lady even wanted to reschedule my visit for next week so a translator could assist me. My goodness… I just wanted to donate blood!

Well, I was been receiving the email and phone reminder so eventually I booked for the plasma donation at CBD. I ha e been done donation for 20 times.
The experience was not good cause the staff didn't think my regular donating vein in a good condition.
I was in a good shape and feel weird.
Somehow I just don't want to try again.
