Decided on a road trip to see the brilliant yellow canola fields of the southern slopes. Looking for some quality accommodation with some character and found The Ark in Coolamon. A fantastic choice. A beautifully renovated old church which had character and charm. A welcome cheese and meat platter and breakfast needs. We cooked and ate in one night and had a nice T bone steak at the Royal Tavern the next. Plus being spring the flowers in the garden at the church were stunning.

This picturesque repurposed old church provided a beautiful weekend away. The hosts provided a delicious welcome platter on arrival, showcasing the towns local produce. It is located just a stones throw away from the town’s Main Street which provides multiple delicious cafe and food options within an easy stroll. The bathroom holds a claw footed bathtub and underfloor heating, which is the epitome of luxury, providing a wonderfully relaxing retreat.

The Ark, was a truly wonderful experience. Hosts Merrin and Phil made the stay very welcoming, adding personal touches like a delightful cheese board on arrival, fresh eggs, crusty bread, and fresh flowers. These thoughtful details, combined with the fully restored church’s historic charm, made for a memorable stay.||The Ark is perfect for a relaxing getaway, and I would highly recommend.

Do yourself a favour and make The Ark Coolamon your destination. Try the slow travel option and take in your surroundings. Fabulous hosts, glorious platter on arrival along with everything we could possibly need for a much needed weekend away. Thank you Merrin for the love and commitment you have obviously put in to this building and your wonderful hospitality. I have absolutely loved every moment.

The Ark was not just accommodation of the highest order it was a wonderful experience. The attention to detail in the restoration was a journey in itself. A beautiful platter awaited our arrival containing homemade and local products. They even thought about breakfast. |We felt so welcome and the hosts were very accommodating.

Absolutely Exquisite!!

From the moment you walk in you feel at peace and at home.

The attention to detail, the delicious home-made bread and jams. The yummy platter with local condiments and the soothing soaps that smell divine.

You can feel the love that has gone into refurbishing this beautiful Church. The decor is tastefully done with each item placed in a perfect place. All with a story to tell.

We stayed two nights and could have easily stayed more.

5 stars seems an understatement for my stay.
The building has an atmosphere that I did not want leave, I ventured out to enjoy the neighboouring towns - Junee Chocolate Factory and the opposite way to Narrandera but was keen to get back and enjoy to peacefulness of the old church. I used it as a base for a few days on a motorcycle and Merrin was most accomodating offering off st parking for my bike.Everything you could ask for was on hand and I look forward to returning.
