By far the rudest receptionist! We were put through to the birth registry department as we hadn’t received a birth certificate for our 4 month old baby, we had called at least every 2 weeks prior asking where it is what is happening to be met with “there’s a lot of delays right now”. Fair enough. But today, the lady we spoke to responded with “we already sent it why has it taken this long for you to follow up” and wouldn’t accept the fact that we had already been told there are delays. Long story short she said there is nothing they can do and can’t help. I will be taking this matter further as she was very rude, very condescending and very bad at her customer service. Disgraceful behaviour.

From my multiple dealings with BDMWA at their L10 office in Perth CBD for the birth registrations of my kids, death certificate for my dad & countless marriage certificates as part of my partner’s business, and also a friends wedding, we have found all the officers at BDM to be friendly, efficient and polite.
I have witnessed the many customers and public from a very diverse and multicultural background at the registry office while waiting quietly for my number to be called, and can attest to their patience in trying to assist each customer to their best ability.
All the permanent regular staff, from Vicki, Chris, Claire, Grace to Geoff, all demonstrate high level of customer service, good tolerance & high empathy while having to work within a structured government system (eg 3 IDs required etc).
They tend to get very busy during peak times around noon, and it can be quite a lengthy wait but they will ensure you are given the full attention without pressure when it’s your turn.
Tips:
- from many reviews, it could be hard to find the building first time. From St George Tce, It’s right at the back past the Dome cafe on your right, and the old boys church & Brookfield Place & Wizard Pharmacy on your left
- there is a counter with many blank application forms at the BDM office
- there’s a nice parents room for babies
- remember to take your ticket from the machine upon arrival
- as with most government department, they don’t open weekends so adjust your visit within their hours of 0830-1630 Mon-Fri but beware of the road clearway along CBD if you are there before 9am or after 4pm to avoid being towed away

We came here today to get my 90years old mother-in-law birth certificate corrected, as she had no ID.
We were lucky it was Melbourne cup day and the place was empty.
We were greeted by a young ,friendly, happy and energetic lady called "Claire". She explained everything very clearly, explained how every piece of paper must link.
Previously every bit of paperwork we had had some form of incorrect name spelling, so its been a 3 year battle to obtain everything. We walked out of there with some great advice in obtaining the next step to get the "proof of ID card"
Thankyou Claire, its wonderful and refreshing to see a government department with a worker that loves their job and is so helpful and enthusiastic to genuine help others.
My 90 year old mother in law still talks about you...,you have made a difference to someone's life thankyou.

Went for a wedding. Low expectations but everything was lovely and the lady from the govt who officiated the ceremony was top notch, on par with the best. Room was nicely set up, only holds max 30ish seating with that again standing.

So if you aren't after religion in your service I highly recommend this service.

My partner (now wife) and I needed to request a shorting of time (SOT) for our marriage in order to start a visa process. From start to finish the team was incredibly helpful in guiding us through what needed to be done, where to find a celebrant, approving our SOT application in less than a day and registering our marriage after the ceremony within a day.

We got married here at Perth Registry Office and I can say it’s our best decision ever. From processing our NOIM to the actual ceremony - everything was smooth, thank you to Mark, who helped us lodge our intended marriage and Tracey who was our wedding celebrant. We had the banksia room and it has the stunning view of the swan river. The room is beautiful and they have room where you can change with your wedding gown/dress. The ceremony took 15 minutes only but every minute was beautiful. You can feel the vibe and everything was just perfect. My husband and I are so happy that we got married here. Thank you again, Registry of births, deaths and marriages! Kudos to the team!

This is definitely recommended to whose who wants to get married intimately with 2-20 guests. Sharing also our photos on our wedding day!
