I watched my son have lessons years ago and admired how thoughtful and considered these guys are. I decided to try some lessons myself and have been surfing most days since I first started.

Darren and the crew were super encouraging and friendly and I learnt so much from my time with them.

I encourage everyone I know to try surfing with SISS.

Our holidays with our large family have been truly sensational with the addition of our 3 day surfing lessons at solitary islands surf school for the past 2yrs. Ranging from 8-22yr olds it’s hard to find something all the family enjoys but this is a true winner and ticks all the boxes. Darryn was more than happy to arrange all 4 families from certain age groups and abilities to have the best 1hr of fun in the surf together! Not only was it such a thrill as parents and grandparents to watch the fun but the kids all got up on their feet with huge smiles on their faces. It’s a definite highlight and a HUGE hit each year we all look forward to.
The coaching staff are brilliant and really catered to each person on a different level.
Thank you so much Solitary Islands Surf School we will be back again for years to come ?

Fantastic surf school in an under-the -radar spot (Woolgoolga). The beach is perfect for learning - but the instructors and their ‘gently gently’ approach make it what it is.

We wanted to book a group lesson for three days but unfortunately the high season was over and this was not an option for emerald beach. In stead we booked a private lesson with Darryn and this was amazing! His instructions where clear and we were actually able to surf some waves on our first lesson! The day after we where able to practice some more at Woolgoolga beach which gave us the confidence to continue surfing! Thanks a lot!

Booked my 8yo daughter and 6yo son into a lesson this morning. Was an outstanding experience. The instructor we had was awesome and the kids loved learning from him. Was shocked how quickly he got the kids surfing and improving each wave. We will be coming back.

Such a brilliant experience with John! He made my 6 year old daughter (who has never surfed or spent really any time in waves) feel so comfortable. By the end of the hour long class she was riding waves all the way in to the beach with absolute joy all over her face! The tips I got also helped me tremendously to be able to stand up and learn the fundamentals. I couldn’t recommend the guys any higher. Thanks for the experience

My partner and I did a double lesson with these guys during the September school holidays.
I had surfed before, she had not. Thanks to these guys, both of us were able to stand by the end of the session, we had a fantastic time and everyone of the coaches was friendly, helpful, and supportive.
What made it a truely fantastic effort on their part was that everyone of the coaches made the effort to know everyones names, and they used them when communicating the whole time while working with everyones differing skill levels.
