Absolutely Terrible Experience with Iron Port Mechanical

I spent $5047 at Iron Port Mechanical, and my car is still in the exact same condition after 3 weeks. They didn’t even bother running basic diagnostic tests to ensure they were addressing the issue. When I asked why they didn’t perform tests like a leak-down test, compression tests, or coolant exhaust gas leak tests, the head mechanic told me it was “too much effort.” When I requested proof of any tests being performed, they were unable to supply any.

Communication was a nightmare—getting clear answers was nearly impossible. It’s clear from reading other reviews that this isn’t an isolated incident, which makes me question how they run their business. I paid a significant amount of money for no results. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

I have sent them text messages of videos of things not changed like spark plug leads bolts that were never touched to remove the inlet manifold

I’m very dissatisfied and let down by the effort the business has put into getting financial gain but not actually perform the tasks billed or complete a comprehensive diagnostic of the issue at hand. Have videos of workmanship and stuff not fix as
per invoice. Have sent to iron port on this number 0488 780 054.

Friendly staff who are keen to get the work done.
Our aircon broke on the way to Hedland. Called these guys who fitted us in to inspect the issue that afternoon. Found the fault, got the part and it was fitted the next morning. Have driven another 3000k since it's been repaired and is working great 👍 Relatively reasonable price as it is in Hedland.

not recommended at all. they charge for things that are ok in the car. plus they even tell you to replace parts that are completely fine. I did a service there and I really doubt that they replace the liquids

Wrong diagnosis, no follow-up, very slow, defective part changed and the list goes on... No refund will be made even if it's written on the invoice. This company is under administration, so refer to anyone else.

IronPort Mechanical not only work with you on unscheduled work but also fit you in if you forget to book a service! They found problems that prevented bigger problems later and that was after a workshop had been working on the same area that missed worn out bushes in the suspension on our 4WD. Good job guys and thanks.

I brought my car in, because I had suspension problems. Their repair diagnosis included struts, ball joints, control arms, wheel bearing. It was pretty obvious they wanted to take advantage of me, as I was travelling and from abroad. My problem I told them was a rattle noise. I did the job fortunately somewhere else, got new rack ends and struts which solved the problems. The other parts were ok.

Please be careful dealing with this business, especially if you are travelling through. I paid $215 for a NSW registration inspection on 6/8/24. I was told verbally that it had passed inspection on 9/8/24 and the paperwork would be emailed to me within hours. It took 19 business days, 21 phone calls to the business, an email to the business, a call to the Consumer Protection Line and finally a call to Transport WA before I got the required paperwork.

Please be wary of this business.

We had some issues with our car and as we have not much knowledge of cars we always ask for multiple opinions at different places.

This place gets two stars as it would have had a spontaneous appointment the next day after having a look straight away as we arrived.

Still the mechanic here was the only one telling us, that the issue needs to be fixed immediately as it would be so bad. And he wouldn't risk driving any further.
The charge and working time was guessed double the amount in comparance to the other mechanics.

Furthermlre an oil change and filter for a toyota townace 1999 (with no further check up) would have been 350 dollars.

The one we took at the end charges 250 with a check up.

For sure every company decides on its own what they charge. But we would definitely recommend trying somewhere else.
