What a Gem

Stopped by Malt Man Brewery in Bodalla, and I couldn’t be more impressed. The beer selection is fantastic, with a variety of flavours that really hit the spot. The meal I had was delicious, and the outdoor area is such a peaceful spot to relax in – perfect for enjoying a drink while soaking in the atmosphere.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. To top it off, it’s located right on the Princes Highway, so it’s a super convenient stop if you’re passing through. Highly recommend – I’ll definitely be back!

April 2024 - Stumbled across this on a day trip from where we were staying in Narooma. Small family owned business with a lovely dog friendly beer garden. Fence had hops growing on it (see photo). Brewer stopped to chat with us and told us he does use the hops in some of his beers. Very friendly and knowledgeable chap. Explained the difference in brewing techniques and talked about what he uses. As husband is a home brewer, this info was much appreciated. I had the berry beer ( yes a beer and not a sour) and loved it. Husband had the pale ale and then the session ale. Thought both were really good. Husband is super fussy with pale ales so this was quite a compliment. We returned 2 days later ? would recommend.

April 2023: Location is great and garden is beautiful to sit in.
Staff very friendly and happy to have a chat. Great service.

Kolsch and amber ale were great. Nice to find a Kolsch as they don't have it everywhere.
Very enjoyable beers and good got chips.
It was interesting to see how the grounds had changed since Blue Earth days. We miss the blue cheese souffles but the beer was fantastic.

On a side note, I have fond memories of chats with the old mate who used to work the garden down the back and chatting about Cape gooseberries. I now grow my own. I believe he's the father of the brothers who own it.

You can see hops growing on the fences and some are used in their beers - The red ale uses it.

Tasting notes are available by QR code on the side of the paddles.

Plenty of parking around.
Well worth a stop.

The place is still awesome. The brown ale is great too but the Kolsch is still a favourite. The porter is also lovely.

Spotted Malt Man Brewery last year, though it was closed as we passed through Bodalla. Kirsty and Eric were so helpful when we contacted them by phone and ordered T-shirts. (Just had to have them! ?). A year later, we have been a.ble to visit, and to sample the beer, food and hospitality - all soooo good. ? Great casual and relaxing atmosphere. Left with a few more souveniers! ? (And no - we are not related in any way).
Highly recommend a visit.

Wowzers!! Stopped on a whim after a long drive from Vic - stellar service (even copped some friendly footy banter!) and the special burger - woohoo!!! Thanks for a great kick start to our holiday! Kids rated the crunchy chips a 10/10!!

Dog friendly breweries always rate highly for me, though small this place is a great spot to stop for a drink and some food. Shaded back area, casual set up with yummy food. Staff are very friendly

We had a lovely lunch. Beer garden was peaceful and the food was great. Had a beer paddle, 4 options to please almost anyone. Staff were friendly and interesting to chat to. We'll certainly be back.
