Purchased a generator for our off grid property located near Bundaberg QLD. Generator will not start after only five hours use. Blue Diamond want the generator sent to their Brisbane depot for assessment at our cost. According to Blue Diamond, customers are “stupid” and the reason for the generator not working is probably something delinquent we have done and is our fault. Returning the generator involves an electrician disconnecting the unit and the use of specialist transport because of the weight of the unit involved. This is a significant cost.
We offered a solution ie., we would engage a local diesel mechanic to liaise with a Blue Diamond technician via FaceTime to determine the issue at our cost. If the issue with the generator is our fault we would pay to have the issue remedied. Alternatively, if the problem is determined to be Blue Diamonds, they should pay to have it issue rectified locally or meet the costs of transport to their Brisbane depot for repair. Transport of faulty goods is a requirement under consumer law, a fact Blue Diamond refuses to acknowledge or honour.
Blue Diamond are now ignoring our attempts to contact their office and also ignoring attempts made by the Office of Fair Trading. Next step is to go to court in an attempt to finalise the matter.
This is very disappointing as we purchased the generator on a recommendation of friends and google reviews. D Wenman and J White, Bundaberg

I purchased a generator new and cannot fault the sales side of things but a product is sometimes only as good as the back up service. I needed a new muffler and called up and gave the model details from the generator that I purchased from them. The muffler arrived, it was used and had rust on it, it also does not match all the same mounting points as the original muffler. From my perspective I provided the details of the unit that I purchased from Blue Diamond and ordered the muffler based on it correctly fitting the unit and being new. I contacted them to advise of the situation and they advised it was off another unit and not new, I was never advised this at the time of the purchase. I don’t think it is realistic when you provide the necessary details that the part will fit and be new. After much back and forth I was offered to return it to Perth at my expense, I already paid $35 freight to receive it, said I was not happy with this and now nothing for weeks. Pretty poor customer service to say the least.
