This walk can be dangerous, to get to the island you have to walk over the Fingal Spit which is only accessible at low tide and you'll have water either side of you . Plan your trip /walk well.
Saying that, the walk is great and the views back towards the beach can be incredible.

The spit is not walkable.
Tried to get across on a 0.6m tide in late June 2024...water is very deep with waves coming across. Maybe swimmable in calm weather....

We enjoyed the walk over to the island, we took the route from Fingal beach- took about 25 minutes to get to the island. One on the island it takes about another 15 to get to lighthouse. Of course depending on you walking pace.

My wife and I went for a walk to Fingal Island yesterday. The first thing that I noticed was the magnificent job that had been done with the lawn maintenance of the walkways. Every track was manicured to perfection, which made walking around very safe for all ages. Congratulations to the maintenance team !
