Vatel in Drummoyne is a great little French bistro and the food is very good, i had the days special crab soup and it was fantastic with house baked crunchy bread, the garlic snails were a good size, so many french bistro's have tiny snails but these were a good size and very well prepared.
The mains of cherry confit duck was an absolute winner, also the lamb cassoulet with white beans was a dish that cannot be understated, it was was fantastic, the duck was sweet and very tender but with crispy skin, a standout dish.
The owner and chef is obviously very passionate and it shows in his food a great result for a small family run restaurant.
They have a small mostly French wine list but it packs a punch and most on the list would satisfy any casual sitting. I believe if you are in the mood for a well presented delicious casual meal without a pretentious vibe, you should visit Vatel and say hello, you wont be disapointed with the food
Its priced at a reasonable price point to make it ideal even for a week day visit.
Well done Vatel we will be back.
I would offer some advice and that they should have some kind of light music as it does seem very sterile and far too sedate.
The addition of background music would have added lifted the lacking atmosphere.

Sydney, drummoyne
Charming and cosy restaurant nestled amongst several restaurants and food establishments along Lyons Road. Deserved to be promoted by foodie guides, so what’s the deal with these food guides. Get on your feet and act together I say and expand your horizon. Tired of reading about all those new openings that get instant high rating. This restaurant was recommended to me by word of mouth. Small reasonable wine list. Classic french fare and well executed. Dinner was nicely done and service was very efficient. Will come back

Today I visited a wonderful restaurant of French cuisine Vatel. Thank you so much to Philippe and Natasha for the amazing food, service and hospitality.
It was truly delightful, the crab soup was what I needed after a walk on a chilly evening and my favourite Suzette' crepes exceeded expectations.
This place is a must visit! 10/10 ⭐️

P.S If you get served by waiter Nick, you're very lucky. He's very helpful, kind and attentive to detail, which is very important for good service

Hidden gem. A French restuarant just hidde behind us. Wish we were introduced to it earlier. Lovely chef and wait staff.
My 8 years old and I love the garlic escargot, which is not overly powered by garlic. And we adore the truffle pasta. And dessert, we love the chocolate fondant. So lucky to have a great French restuarant in the inner west.

Came here on a Friday night based on friend’s recommendation. Friendly service and lovely food and decor. Had the 3 course menu and it’s really well priced. Love the dory and the creme brulee. Will come back again for sure!

Beautiful food, lovely staff, always an elegant place to dine. The Crepe Suzette in particular is always so perfect (but it was devoured before I thought to take a photo). Our compliments to the chef 🙂

Excellent mains let down by entree. Very noisy, not the fastest service. For a packed Saturday night they only had one chef though, which I feel excuses that, but it does seem a little odd to have just one. Pretty sure the peas were frozen. Overall good.
