What an incredible dining experience!

From the moment we walked through the door, we felt genuinely welcomed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting—calming, yet filled with a wonderful sense of energy and harmony among the staff.

We were fortunate to be looked after by Tudor, who impressed us with his excellent knowledge of both the dishes and the wine pairings. His service was attentive and made the evening feel even more special.

We chose the Chef’s Choice menu, a multi-course journey that took our taste buds from the sea to the farm. I must admit, there were a few dishes I may not have ordered on my own—but I’m so glad we went with the Chef’s selection. Every dish was a delightful surprise, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour.

Well done, Ates at Blackheath—we loved every delicious mouthful. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for a memorable and elevated dining experience.

Ates in Blackheath is a wonderful spot that impressed me from the moment I arrived. The location and ambiance are fantastic—modern and welcoming with a cozy charm.

The food was exceptional. We started with an array of entrees, including fresh oysters, perfectly cooked Hokkaido scallops, and their signature woodfired focaccia, which had a wonderful flavor and texture. For mains, we had the pork, which was incredibly tender and juicy. Its clean flavor was impressive and a real highlight of the meal. To finish, we tried their desserts, and the chocolate mousse stood out as a must-try.

The service added to the experience. Sean was attentive, friendly, and ensured everything went smoothly, while Judah brought a relaxed yet professional touch that made us feel right at home.

Ates is a place I’d wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere in Blackheath.

Excellent seasonal menu. Wednesdays is BYO night ($10 corkage/bottle). This is our 3rd time at Ates and the food and service is phenomenal. The restaurant seats maximum 37, including outdoor courtyard. Well spaced tables, warm atmosphere and Shaun our waiter was fabulous.
The duck with mandarin and sechuan was a stand out.
Gluten free friendly also. A staple restaurant for Blackheath. Highly recommend.

A cozy place to relax and enjoy a good meal in beautiful Blackheath. We are vegetarians and never expected to find so many options to choose from.
Excellent quality and great quantities, love their beverages as well. Service was excellent, warm and friendly staff. Took great care in what we are looking for.
Tip: Difficult to find a table during weekends specifically peak hours. Plan your visit accordingly.

Delicious, fresh food! great wines! efficient and attentive service. Be sure to make a reservation. You won't regret dining here. We ate the chef's Banquet for $96/pp (pictured). We ordered scallops on top of that as well. Highly recommend the scallops, kingfish, beef tartare, pork neck and baked peaches. The creme brulee and strawberry granita for dessert were perfect finishers - a quality dessert that is not heavy/carby as we were very full !

Lovely food, fantastic customer service, good atmosphere. We love the focaccia, zucchini, king fish sashimi, beef tarte and the duck. The price is on the high side, but in line with the quality.
