This is a great public asset for both locals and visitors. The trail is just over 22 km in length and you can travel either from Tumbarumba to Rosewood or start at Rosewood and ride into Tumbarumba. You can even hike all or part way. There are a few places along the trail where vehicles can park or provide support to users of the trail. There is lots of historical information available including a restored rail carriage at the Tumbarumba end.

Suitable for road bikes. Bitumen all the way, way better than most roads. Just slow down on the bike friendly cattle grids and tunnels. Some tunnels have a 1cm concrete lip.
Start your ride from the main town centre skateboard park for an extra 1.5km. Just follow the bike path through the park, then up a small hill on foot path 100m, then follow the bitumen bike path all the way to the trail head. Look for the signs.

Good introduction to rail trails. Beautiful countryside. Completed on cool October morning. Would be too hot during summer. Couple of cafes at rosewood to choose from before return trip. Last 4kms back to Tumba is the steepest, otherwise well graded. NSW needs to catch up to Victoria and Queensland. Rail trails support small communities.

Great day on the track, not too much incline either way making it an easy trail. Was early October so was a bit of a magpie gauntlet but that gave it a bit of an adrenaline rush to boot.

Nice rail trial; bitumen all the way, but a bit boring. Most of the 21 km is just through farmland. It’s only the first couple of kilometres out of Tumbarumba that is through some rather nice forest.

Signage is good though. Definitely worth a ride if you’re in the area.

Great rail trail that's been nicely tarred the whole way. Beautiful 21km track through the countryside between two regional towns. Easily sign posted at each end with car parking. Markers every one kilometre of trail. Great ride for all ages and abilities. Disclaimer: do not go during Magpie breeding season. It's mayhem
