Last minute change of plan to stay here…. And a detour that was well worth it. So peaceful and enjoyable. Great to watch a cane burn and to learn so much about sugar production, history, and the associated technologies. Recommended to any traveller! You won’t see this anywhere else in Oz!

Stayed for a week in July. Would not stay again though.

Cons:
- Noise from nearby road. Particularly when the nearby fields are being harvested the trucks kept driving back and forth from 3am.
- A lot of mosquitoes and sandflies in the morning and evening.
- The owner is very particular about everyone listening to the rules including both parents and all of the kids. And if not, he gets very angry about it.
- You have to fill out extensive waivers with all your details including kids names
- No rubbish bins (just recycling and compost)

Pros:
- Large level grassy sites
- Inexpensive with electricity and water
- Watching cane burn was fun
- Communal fire pit every night with hot plates for cooking
- Trampoline for kids

Amazing experience. Greg is the best host. He is full of so much local knowledge and freely shares it with all. We camped along a beautiful river with access to the farm and a communal fire. Part of the experience is seeing a 'burn' where the local farmers burn the sugar cane before harvesting. It was intense fire and a fascinating history lesson.

Called the number listed here and left a message at 9am. No call back. Found a mobile number on wiki, called and left a messsge at 11:30am. No call back. Decided to call in at 3pm to see if there was a spot. Someone let us park, however the owner then came over and started having a go at us for coming on private property!! He said the number listed was disconnected and he didn’t get a message on his mobile. This is not my fault. No need to be so aggressive, just say, please leave. He then said we could stay but we chose to leave.

What a great place to stay and learn all about cane growing..... Chickens, geese, green grass, camping under the mango trees, cane fields at various stages of growth. And WOW the cane burning was absolutely awesome to watch...... Able to go out in the cane truck to pick up the load with Darren... Thanks for that. To hosts Lyn and Greg thanks for an experience I'll never forget.

Unfortunately we had a horrible experience.
Greg unfortunately was a bit to full on for one of our kids, caused him enormous stress and made him really upset. Then Greg made a point if he couldn’t say the rules to our son we couldn’t stay…. Don’t know why explaining it to the “parents” wasn’t good enough. I think he was just looking for an excuse for us to leave. Has happened with other families as well.
So a big warning if you have kids or kids with mental health problems you might not be welcome or be asked to leave. If they’re an issue.
Apart from that if you don’t have kids I’m sure it would be a great place to come.

Really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The owner, Greg, came to the camp fire each evening and is a wealth of information and stories. The town of Ayr had all our needs.
