I highly recommend Matt as a producer for young artists. For my daughter, his friendly and generous approach made the experience of recording her first song exciting and comfortable. His experience as a practicing musician means he can fill in the blanks where the artist needs some extra accompaniment and professionalism in their recording, which results in a high quality musical product, ready for distribution. Young artists can get experience in music production and a foot into the music industry much earlier using Matt's services. We hope to continue working with Matt for a long time. He's a great guy.

Matt’s musicianship and professionalism were the things that impressed me the most when working with him. He has a clever way of offering suggestions while still giving you complete ownership of your songs. He has a lovely non-judgemental nature about him made me feel very comfortable to experiment and explore sounds in the studio.

I have had the pleasure of working with Matt for a couple of years now and I was really worried that I wouldn't find a producer who could create the kind of music that aligns with my artistic style. Little did I know that I would not only meet someone who would become an incredible friend, but also one of the most genuine, kind-hearted, and professional producers/musicians in Newcastle. I am constantly amazed by his ability to transform simple guitar/vocal demos into absolute masterpieces on the spot. Matt is truly exceptional when it comes to music production. Listening to my poorly explained ideas and making them work. Making me feel apart of the process from start to finish and taking on challenges and completely executing them with ease. He has pushed me beyond my limits vocally, and has helped me realise that I can in fact, hit that high note that I was doubting. He will tell me what I need to hear and not what I want to hear. When you’re creating music, you need someone like Matt to help you reach your goals and he has done just that for me. ☺️

It's hard to imagine a more complete one-man show. Matt from SM produces, composes, arranges, and can play anything - like, genuinely anything - you need on your track that you don't have. And it's all broadcast quality. Anything I've ever brought him in demo form has been improved tenfold with Matt's input and musical mind.

I absolutely cannot recommend Matt enough - we worked together on a comedy song of mine which was a very specific and out-of-the-box kinda brief and he absolutely smashed it out of the park. The sessions with him were so fun and easy, and his musical instinct and knowledge is absolutely second to none. He's super professional, great communication
all-round and absolutely rad gear in the studio. I'm beyond thrilled with the final track and can't wait to work with Matt again!!

I approached Mat from S&M Productions for assistance with recording voice over for training material I am developing. I found the experience to be very enjoyable and far more relaxing than I anticipated. Mat was extremely professionally while making you feel very relaxed an at ease at the same time. I was amazed at his ability to bring the best out in you noticing even the slightest mistakes, loss of energy or lack of emphasis. When it came to post production editing it was incredible how fast and accurate he was. I can highly recommend Mat to anyone needing any type of audio recording services.

I first saw Matt McLaren on TV. He is a well known, local music producer with a great recording studio buried deep in the back of the INNX warehouse in Newcastle West. He is a soulful performer, creative producer and proprietor of a state of the art studio.
