Wow! An amazing museum with access to so much history. Access all parts of the whaling vessel, processing facilities and whale skeletons...so big!

You may just think "oh, it's just a whaling museum", but it's so good. So well presented. We spent 2hrs there before it closed. We could have so easily spent another 2hrs there.

Take your time. There's an excellent cafe onsite and playground for the kids.

$35 per adult entry (March 2025) but worth every penny. So hope they continue to get funding to maintain this museum as it's an important part of Australian history which should not be cancelled.

An excellent place.This is apparently the only complete whaling station tourism attraction in the world!
The whaling station, which operated here from 1952 to 1978, is now a fascinating historic site, in which the stories of the teams of men who worked on the whaling ships and in processing the catch, bring the place to life. The Historic Whaling Station Collection includes a large photographic collection.
We were very privileged to talk to Stewart, who was actually used to working on the ship at time, and today is volunteering.
Don't miss this station.it is worthy every cent.

Very informative on Albany's Whaling past. My kids (8 and 12) found plenty to interest them. They especially enjoyed walking around the ship.

Cafe was great. Good range of food on offer and with great service. Amazing views!!

The wildlife park attached to this site was rather odd, though. There was no one else there other than the keeper. It was incredibly clean and the animals seemed well cared for, and there were information signs for guests. Just a very odd set up!

I didn’t do much research before heading out to see the whaling station. Little did we know we would spend almost 5 hours walking around seeing everything! I’m appreciative that as a country, Australia stopped the unnecessary killing of whales many years ago and it sure was an eye opener for us as a family (albeit saddening) to see what they did back in the day. If anything this is a great day to spend with the family (recommend at least a few hours to get through everything). The gardens and wildlife park at the end were an added bonus.

$35 dollar ticket to enter in three attractions.
The whaling station it’s fantastic with a lot to see and discover including the tour in the last whale ship. Simply fantastic discover this amazing animals and all the process that the factory made to produce oil. The hunting of these beautiful animals was cruelty and some videos may disturb sensitive people. Absolutely worth the price and must do to discover Albany

A huge whaling station with a large whaling ship to explore (lots of ladders and cabins to enter), impressive and huge whale skeletons to see, alongside tools and equipment used in the process.

Some really interesting information boards, short movies on whaling and engine rooms to explore. The tickets were very cheap for what you accessed, which included the botanic gardens and nearby wildlife park.

Overall - definitely a recommended place to visit!

Upon entry, greeted by welcoming and informative staff , generally an easy self exploration of an original whale carcasses production facility.
Very good presentation and audio as well as film take you around the grounds , the area adjacent to the facility is a wildlife presentation area with native fauna on display. Coffee shop has refreshments available.

The experience was really positive overall. While the whaling industry is not one that I endorse, the quality of the history, the learning more about the importance of the marine ecosystem and the creatures that live there, and the human story behind the people who worked in this area was very well presented. I wasn't sure that I would enjoy this, but I actually did.
