Poor service. Employees never make any effort to find the products we ask for. Once, I asked if they had umbrellas, and the attendant said they did not have any because it was not raining. Another time, I asked if they had a torsion spring to replace the one in my bin's lid, and another attendant told me it would be better to buy a new bin. (Sorry, but I did not ask for your opinion—I just politely asked if you had the item.)

Very poor treatment in general.

Said an item was in stock but wasn't when we got there. Otherwise fairly well stocked for a small shop.

Today, I had an unpleasant experience with a very rude staff member at Bunnings in Claremont. I was looking for a timber stain and then I came across a 1L bottle of Diggers Paint Restorer, marked at $11.95 (on discount), with the price clearly displayed on the orange shelf tag. I took it to the checkout near the entrance, where the male cashier scanned it, I paid for the timber stain and when he scanned the Painter Restorer, the price came up as $22.50. I pointed out that the shelf price was $11.95. He then asked a woman staff member (not disclosing her name) who was stationed at the entrance, to check the price. She scanned the item, next minute, very rudely insisted and said "NO, the price was DEFINITELY $22.50, IT CANNOT BE $11.95 " Wow, her attitude, facial expression suggested that she thought I was lying, and it seemed like she Wasn’t happy with Bunnings offering such a low price selling it to me. I told its written there in the price tag and again she put it rudely across "NO, It can't be that cheap...etc". Why can't she said, the price might be incorrect, let me check ... instead of this rude response?

I decided to go back to the shelf and take a photo of the price tag. I then approached a staff member in the painting department, who confirmed that the correct price was $11.95. He even called the checkout to that it is $11.95 So with their confirmation, I returned to the checkout, but then a different young woman was now serving me. She claimed she hadn’t received the call from the painting department and suggested that maybe someone else had taken the call. At this point, Allison seemed frustrated and was determined to prove that Bunnings shouldn’t be selling things so cheaply. She went back to check the price again and took about 10 minutes to return. When she did, she said the price tag was dated December 5th. Ok well that is fine, Look, I was willing to accept that, but when I tried to speak, she abruptly interrupted me with a rude tone, asking, “Do you want to listen?”

This was when I got frustrated and decided to tell her off. Well Allison then told me to leave, pointing to the door. I responded by telling her that the door was right there too for her, and reminded her not to use the Lift. I told her that it seemed like she wasn’t happy to sell me / us the product at such a low price. If I were a white customer, she probably wouldn’t have spent this much time checking the price, going up the lift and down again, taking her 10 mins or arguing with me or giving a few Rude tone.

I met many friendly professional Buntings staff but not her. Bunnings should treat all customers with respect, regardless of their background. If Bunnings expects customers to be polite, they should expect the same professionalism and courtesy from their staff. Customer service should always be a two-way street.

From start to almost finish, I remained patient despite her rude tone, facial expressions, and the implication that we shouldn't be getting such cheap deals. She could have simply said, “The price might be incorrect, let me check,” as she would likely have done for a another "different" customer. Instead, her dismissive attitude was a clear violation of Bunnings' customer service principles, which is when I became pissed off and confronted her. She repeatedly told me, “The door is there,” and I responded, “Yes, the door is there too for you ”

Bunnings should train and educate their Staff to treat customer all the same. Very rude staff.

Pretty big store, and you can find almost all of your hardware needs here. This store is closer to my house, and I run into this store quite frequently. Never have I ever gone into this store and came out empty-handed. To date, I have never found the products I needed being out of stock. Staff are super friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable.
