Just came off a swing at Nova mine site where Cater Care Group did the food. Heaps better than ESS catering who are on most mine sites. I enjoyed the food at this camp for the first time in years of doing FIFO.

What a company! Now if you are a mine site and you are looking to get a crew in to decrease moral, provide heinous food and provide below-average staff, cater care is for you. I have worked at 2-3 sites now that utilise cater care. I will start with the positives first. Rooms are generally cleaned to an okay standard, despite for when they forget and barge in when you are in your room. Now on to the food. I was at a WA mine site just 3 weeks ago and walked in to the mess for a feed. I genuinely thought that I had been teleported to 1930 and was in a gulag. The food looked awful and tasted even worse. I never knew that someone could overcook and destroy broccoli, but the chefs certainly exceeded my expectations. The bain-marie was also lacking, with a few vegetable pieces here and there and some zucchini that looked like road-kill. Now to packing lunch. Zero fresh options, fruit is usually almost rotten and waxy and you will be really struggling to find anything appealing. Breakfast was also below-par. Walking in a 4:30am to see some scrambled anaemic eggs that were made from powder really makes me want to call it a day there and then. Thankfully, the baked beans have somehow not been ruined. Also the cereal option is quite a good choice as cater care has usually not meddled with the carton boxes. I hope that is the case! Probably one of my most scathing but deserved reviews. 0/10

My mother is in a nursing home that uses Cater Care. Quite often she doesn’t receive the food she has ordered or the food isn’t very good. That being said she sometimes says the food was very nice.
