I had a very upsetting experience at Coles Hornsby Westfield a few months ago that I feel compelled to share. After using the self-checkout and leaving the store, I was immediately followed by a plain-clothed security guard who accused me of stealing. I calmly explained that the remaining items I had were from Chemist Warehouse and showed him a valid receipt.

Shockingly, even after inspecting the receipt, he continued to accuse me. I suggested we go to the front desk, where Coles staff confirmed that the item in question was not even sold by Coles. I was left feeling publicly humiliated and deeply embarrassed.

What’s even more disappointing is that I contacted the store manager via email three times and, months later, have still not received a single response.

As an Asian customer, I can’t help but question whether I was racially profiled. Am I not allowed to shop at Coles simply because I have items from another retailer?

This experience was distressing and completely unacceptable. I expected better treatment and accountability from a major retailer like Coles.

Bigger Kiwi lady in customer service with the dyed blonde hair is so rude. She is unkind and always in a fowl mood. Everyone else who works here is so lovely and always smiles and is kind (especially the kind Asian lady who works at the self check outs, so so lovely). Unfortunately this is my local now and whenever she’s there I know I’ll have a bad experience. That’s when I know there’s something wrong. Doesn’t give Coles a good name and I’d prefer to walk 5 mins to Woolies. I really believe a back of house job with boxes and not around customers is better suited for her. Genuinely needs an attitude check.

I purchased a gift card worth of $400 on 17th April at coles Hornsby, westfield.
When I needed to use it at a retail shop when I swiped card nothing happened. I tried to swipe a few times but did not work. I called coles customer service on the day they said submit the copy of receipt and front and back of the card.
I submitted all the things they asked straight away.
I have not received nor new card or refund.
When I contact them again they said we are looking into it.
It has been over a month now, they still have not resolved it.
So frustrating.

Large Cole's with a great range of fresh produce, bread products and a decent although standard deli. The staff here are super helpful and pleasant. They also police the mandated 2 cans of formula pretty diligently. I have seen staff on numerous occasions prevent people from buying more formula as they already had bought two cans that day. A liqourland is also located within the store. The store is wheelchair and pram accessible. Soul origin are located just outside the entrance so you can grab a coffee for your shop. Toilets are also located in the centre and parking is ample.

I visited the Coles Hornsby store today in search of almond milk, only to find the shelves empty. Thankfully, an employee named Warate was there, diligently stocking the sauce aisle. When I asked for help, Warate immediately paused his tasks to assist me. He went above and beyond by checking the product code, then heading to the back store to fetch a package specifically for me. Employees like Warate are the reason I continue to shop at Coles. Their dedication to customer service is truly commendable. Thank you, Warate, for making my shopping experience so positive!

I can’t believe how rude the Asian man is at the front counter, I came in to return a faulty product he said to me where is your receipt. I said I have to look it up on my phone because I don’t receive receipts any more, as I’m looking it up he just walks away from the counter and disappears. This is not the first time I’ve encountered his laziness and rudeness. I asked for him to match my raincheck price while I was in the self serve lanes, and he told me to go into the 10 items and under registers.. I said to him, cant you do rainchecks? He then reluctantly did it. If this is not lazy what is. I think this man should not be on the counter, he should be in the chiller filling shelves, where he has no contact with customers! Pathetic Service come on Coles you can do better than this!

Good place. You can find various discounts to save some money. If Coles has a discount, then it was cheaper than Costco. Recommended!

Beware the in house baked biscuits in the plastic see through containers. Bought a pack of choc chip baked in store cookies today and just had one and…completely stale. Checked the use by date and it was 7 days from now, BUT checked the when baked, and baked A WEEK AGO. How Coles can sell stuff they baked a week ago and pan them off as being good for another week yet is a joke. These were inedibly stale and staight in to the bin. Would take them back but can’t be bothered fighting the xmas crowds again today. Anyway warning for others who happen to read reviews…
