We are writing to wholeheartedly recommend Jane and Dean, the owners and principals of Distinct Building Co., for any future building projects. It has been our great pleasure to work with them on the construction of our home, and our experience has been nothing short of exceptional.

From the very beginning, Jane and Dean impressed us with their professionalism, clear communication, and remarkable efficiency. The quality of the final product was top-shelf and a true standout. Our house was completed in just seven months from slab down—a timeline that is truly outstanding in the industry, as many builders typically take 14 to 18 months for similar projects. In comparison, we have two other houses with a different builder, which only recently reached brick plate height, highlighting the significant difference in pace.

What truly sets Jane and Dean apart is their hands-on approach and personal involvement throughout the entire process. Unlike larger construction companies where you're passed between multiple team members, Jane and Dean are directly engaged at every stage. From the initial design and costing to construction and final completion, they provided invaluable guidance, advice, and vision. They are also incredibly responsive—while many builders take days to return communication, Jane and Dean consistently respond within the hour, which made the process far smoother and less stressful.

Not only are they highly skilled professionals, but they are also genuinely wonderful people to work with. They are trustworthy, honest, and transparent in their dealings, which made a significant difference in our experience. One of the standout aspects of working with them was the complete absence of the typical variation issues that often arise with other builders. Our final variations amounted to only a couple of thousand dollars, prompted by changes we requested, which is a rarity in the industry.

We would also highly recommend visiting one of their completed homes or reviewing their portfolio before making a decision. Jane and Dean have an impeccable eye for design and finish, and their work stands out for its attention to detail and quality. We were able to visit two of their previously constructed homes before we signed our contract, which gave us a real understanding of the level of finish we could expect—and we were thrilled with the results. After seeing the homes, we were sold and eager to proceed. It was also refreshing to see a final product, rather than a typical show home, which is nothing like the substantially reduced specification and level of finish of the actual build.

As someone who works in the construction industry and regularly interacts with a wide range of builders, I can say with confidence that our experience with Distinct Building Co. has been 'one in thousand'. Jane and Dean’s commitment to excellence, combined with their outstanding customer service, sets them apart in a crowded industry. Based on the exceptional experience we had, we have already moved forward with additional builds, pulling them from another builder to award Jane and Dean the projects.

Brilliant!...I cannot express our appreciation of the quality of work, the communications and professionalism displayed by distinct renovations on building our extension.
After several bad experiences with architects and other builders we lost faith in the building industry as a whole until we discovered Distinct renovations. Deans experience in the industry and his use of quality trades restored our faith completely and was evident within the first week. From start to finish there was no time wasted and the quality or work just continued to impress.
Our extension included a separate living quarters with ensuite, kitchen, WIR and bed/lounge area , external bullnose verandah and picket fence. All work was well co-ordinated and managed by Dean. It was a pleasure watching our vision come to life.
I have no hesitation in recommending Distinct Renovations for any build they were an absolute pleasure to work with.

Distinct Renovations recently completed an extension and renovation to our 100+ year home in West Perth, and we’re absolutely stoked with the outcome. We were in discussions with them for over a year as we mulled over a decision to renovate or relocate.

When we decided to renovate, Jane bent over backwards to ensure our plans, quote and contract were ready to sign before the Building Grant deadlines, which we thankfully managed to achieve.

Throughout the project, communication was exceptional and Dean was really flexible with the many changes that we requested. As with any build and particularly with our house being a Century, there were a few building issues that popped up, and we really relied on Dean’s expertise to ensure all went smoothly and explain to us the process.

All the trades we encountered were good to deal with and more importantly did a great job !

All in all, we’re really happy with our decision to renovate with Distinct, they’re a great team and we would have no problems recommending them
