STAY AWAY. Go spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

So we signed a contract to build a 6x4 shed with a 3m annexe mid 2024 and originally were told the build would be completed around April 2025. Zeke (Manager) attended for the first quote and the quote was reasonable in comparison to other's, he seemed genuine and we decided to go with FDB.

Fast forward and October 2024 we get a call to concrete the slab in for the shed, thought you beauty. Anyway this is where the nightmare begins. There was ZERO earthworks done to prep the area for a slab, the cracker dust was literally dumped ontop of uneven ground and made level to pour a slab. No communication from the concreting crew on when the pour was, the yard was left an absolute disgrace with rubbish everywhere. The day of the pour the concrete truck arrived and had to wait 45minutes for the concreter's to turn up and do the pour.
Once the pour was done they left and came back two days later to remove the formwork. There was a near 400mm step up from the natural ground to the slab, even though it had been discussed and FBD had measured my boat to know that the annexe was going to be to park the boat under. Concreter's removed the formwork (except they left one board concreted in and edges everywhere that hadn't been cleaned up of done properly).

Had Jake (project manager) out to check the slab and he said all good, I was not happy with this as the slab was unusable to be able to drive anything let alone a boat trailer up that high of an edge. I asked Zeke to come out and have a look and he did, he admitted the slab was not as was originally thought to have been and was very reasonable with asking what we wanted to do to fix it. My first suggestion remove the whole slab and start again was rejected, so I asked if they would cut the front of the slab off (about 2.6mL x 4mW) and do a gravel driveway, this was agreed to in principle in early November. At this stage I also said I did not think that the cracker dust had been properly compacted under the slab and Zeke assured me they had run a compactor over it, which once I said I would check the camera's to make sure he quickly said I mean they wheel rolled it with the excavator (also untrue).

Shed kit was delivered second of December and placed out the front, I was told that it would be moved onto the slab pre Christmas. The kit stayed out the front until around mid January when the build commenced (completely destroying my front yard), I didn't want to untie it to move piece by piece so it wouldn't be loose In case of a cyclone. Was also told that someone had come round and checked the whole kit off at delivery (another lie as half of it was placed in my garage so couldn't have been checked unless I was made aware).

Build started and ran relatively smoothly for the structure the trades that worked on the build and the electrical were excellent, made sure that I knew what was going on and where the build was at, even when they were waiting parts (good check off on the delivery I know). Sparkies were good that ran power and even said don't bother with some of the variations that had been agreed on because they wouldn't be worth it or work properly for my particular space.

Shed build was finished around the end of January was just awaiting the agreed upon driveway. Now back in November I had said exactly how I wanted to driveway to be done given the concrete fiasco (soil scrapped clean, weed mat, road base and then gravel ontop in gravel grid so it doesn't move and compacted down). I had even had Jake around to confirm the works. Now it was time to actually commence the works they for the first time say they won't do weedmat, road base or gravel grid, just scrape grass and dump the gravel. The comment was even made "ultimately we are a shed building company not a driveway company" and they referenced having been operating at a loss on my job. Both of these to me are extremely unprofessional, it is not my fault as a customer that your contractors have not done the works properly.

DO NOT USE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE

Zeke, Jake and the team at Fair Dinkum have been so helpful and we couldn’t love our big shed enough. The construction guys took 5 days from the day of delivery to having the shed fully complete. (We just had to wait for the roller doors to be installed..) but we can’t fault these guys in any way!… Plus we got an engraved cheeseboard at the handover! Thanks guys! Now we just need a shed sign to put on our fence! Thank you again! Cheers!

I would recommend Fair Dinkum Builds to anyone who is looking to buy a kit form or have one fully installed. Marti in the office is a pleasure to deal with, nothing is too much trouble and Zeke was happy to discuss anything at any time. I chose to do my own build and when I had a question, one of the fitters was more than happy to answer my calls anytime. Great bunch of people, great product too, really impressed.

I am terribly disappointed with the service provided by Zeke and Fair Dinkum Builds Townsville. The entire process was riddled with errors and delays, causing unnecessary stress and frustration. Zeke's lack of follow-up, communication, and attention to detail resulted in a slab almost being placed in the completely wrong location, jeopardizing access to crucial areas for my horses. The people prepping the slab also damaged my fencing damaging horse yard fencing without repairing or notifying me of the damage before departing.

The constant delays without any communication left me in the dark and uncertain about the progress of the project. This not only affected the timeline but also triggered my husband's PTSD, making our home life incredibly difficult during this period. Zeke's excuses and attempts to evade responsibility were unprofessional and unacceptable.

When my husband decided to terminate the contract due to the lack of progress, I discovered that several parts of the shed kit were missing, despite the payment made for the slab and the existing kit. Zeke's failure to promptly provide the missing parts further showcased his negligence and disregard for customer satisfaction.

Overall, the experience with Zeke and Fair Dinkum Builds Townsville was a complete disaster. I would not recommend their services to anyone based on the incompetence, lack of communication, and overall unprofessionalism displayed throughout the project.

When ordered carport was told it would be about 6months wait till the build could happen, very close to 6 months.
Buildering team very professional, nothing was a problem for them.
Cleaned up after themselves.
Well done. Thanks

Had a carport built by Fair Dinkum Builds Townsville. The whole process was full of mistakes & terrible workmanship.
There was a lack of communication, Zeke (Manager) was the worst Rep ive ever dealt with.
I flip houses and usually build a shed or a carport as part of the Reno budget. I was promised a Build date but ths kept sliding again and again, which caused havoc
on other contractors and the reno schedule.
Materials arrived and the pallet was dumped obstructing the driveway. I was forced to remove my back fence to exit my yard. I rang the manager Zeke and was fuming, in which he said replied "If you Say Please" and i will organised someone move it. The ego on this guy is horrendous.
The build eventually happened, but upon measurement it was too short. They had to organise extra materials, then build an extension on the carport to meet the contract build specs.
Then the certifier failed this build and they were sent a order to rectify.
Many times throughout the contract I was required to touch base with the Ombudsman.
I am a retired Veteran, my word is my integrity.....as I tell every person I have come across who is interested in building a shed or carport - "Please if you value your hard earned money stay clear of these guys"
These cowboys should be shut down!!

I WILL NEVER USE THESE UNPROFESSIONAL BUILDERS AGAIN. STAY CLEAR!!.

If you need clarity, please contact me, ive kept all correspondence with this company and the shortcomings that occurred with this build.
