Had 4 nights at Lagoon camp-site in self contained caravan. Simply stunning setting. Sunrise over water, night sky full of milky way stars, campfire, loads of bird life. Very peaceful but with added bonus of only being 3km down track from main camp ground for topping up water tanks, laundry facilities etc.
The 4wd track @70km around property was a great trip.
If you want to escape to a place of quiet...this is it.
About 90kms from Thargomindah but dirt road was open and in pretty good condition.

We stayed at the lagoon - fantastic private and level sites for self contained vans. The views were spectacular with lots of birds . The book about the farm loaned to guests is wonderful and we enjoyed the self drive to sites recommended . The Dodd’s family were welcoming and informative. The wild flowers were amazing . We couldn’t have asked for more . I would definitely recommend

We camped down at the lagoon for our 4 night stay and it is still the top of my list of places to camp ever. The lagoon was beautiful, far enough away from the Shearer's quarters to feel remote but close enough to use the facilities if you need. The campsite was wonderful - the views were lovely and the birdlife fantastic. Can't speak highly enough of the whole place. The self-drive four wheel drive tracks were a highlight and we can't wait to visit again one day.

Quintessential outback experience.
Great place to get a true appreciation of cattle station life. We saw mustering with helicopters and ground support on bikes. Incredible.
We stayed at the shearers quarters as we had a dog but the lagoon was nice too. Take a self-guided tour!

(Julie and Pat - Outback Dusty Trails) We have stayed at Kilcowera Station on a number of occasions both in the Shearers Quarters as well as camping with family. We have been there when Cardenyabba Lagoon was full of water and also in times of drought when it was next to empty and the beauty of the landscape, although different in the wet and dry, was absolutely amazing. When you combine the birdlife, wildlife and the stunning scenery it is an absolute photographers dream. The hosts, Toni and Greg Sherwin, go out of their way to make to feel part of an extended family and are always willing to show you around their property and explain all the life experiences of running a cattle property. Anyone interested in seeing first hand life in the Outback on an operating cattle station and Station Stay we can definitely recommend this one as a top place.

We were on our way back to Sydney after a Simpson desert crossing and had two nights on Kilcowera. Some of us camped by the lagoon whist others stayed in the shearer’s quarters which are very generously equipped. The showers surrounding the quarters were a bit of bush camping luxury and very well maintained. ||Toni and Greg are the consumate country hosts and we recommend anyone wanting a true outback cattle station experience to stay. These guys, like a lot in this region, are doing it bloody tough with a long drought so I encourage all to get out there and support stations like Kilcowera and towns like Thargomindah as these guys put food on our table at the end of the day. ||It’s a privilege to be able to camp on a property like Greg and Toni’s and have a genuine station experience

What a great spot. You camp on the billabong in secluded spots with great water views and lots of birdlife: firewood is provided at times of the year when that makes sense. Lots of spoonbills when we visited.||There are a number of marked drives around the property: these drives are both lovely and informative. No mobile coverage as the camp sites but some on high points around the property. If it looks like rain you are encouraged to leave as the tracks and roads can become impassable for periods of time.||Loved our short stay here,|.
