I WENT TO WATCH MACBETH ON WEDNESDAY THE 12TH OF MARCH (their first showing) -- cyclone alfred caused a delay -- and it was so so so amazing. the fact that the cast was just 3 actresses, with all the roles there are in macbeth .. omg. and they made the witches the focus of the production!! one of their actresses was also sick, so the way they worked around that was incredible too. 10/10 definitely should go watch ‼️

Cool intimate theatre holding a few hundred people & only 10 or so rows so everything is close. Small stage that featured a 3 piece band for our show.

Performance space allows for a variety of show types - ours was music theatre.

Onsite bar with inside (air-conditioned) & outside seating. Also a food truck there tonight.

Parking is paid on-street or some commercial car parks. Good service by BCC buses. Lots of fast food restaurants in area.

The theatre is great and plays are performed in the round providing the audience with a higher level of engagement. There is metered street parking and paid parking across from the theatre in a QUT red zone carpark. The theatre has a nice bar and places to sit in a courtyard. Very pleasant venue!

I just saw the David Tennant/Cush Jumbo performance of Macbeth at the movies followed a couple of days later by the La Boite one.
Good sets and lighting, clever interpretation, extremely well acted (I did not believe 3 people could do it)...every bit as good!

Interesting spot, a bit out of town, but worth the trip if something interesting is on at the theatre. We caught an unusual play while passing through Brisbane. Plenty casual eating options around.

Wonderful intimate performance space in Kelvin Grove Village
It is a mid size theatre in the round for about 400 patrons
This season this year( 2022) has four plays
In comparison with six or seven plays per Covid
I like the the redecoration of the foyer as it’s softer than the last harsher rendition
The theatre company is 100 years old in 2025 and has been in this site almost two decades
La Boite has a reputation for edgy experimentation and in my experience it certainly lived up to that!

La Boite Theatre is a place you can have something diverse, bold, unique experience of theatre. Their program are getting better and better each year. I really hope that La Boite keep the spirit of diversity and transcultural theme in their work because that is actually what Australian theatre and performing arts' strength.
