I‘m a commercial photographer (who shoots analog for work) from Melbourne; I came up to the Gold Coast last weekend just to visit my friends. I happened to take my M6 with me, and had a couple of rolls of Ultramax. I had searched around for a solid lab on the GC, as I didn’t want to take the rolls back to Melbourne. (If I can avoid going through airports with film, I will)
I came across Lazarus who had good reviews and also a solid website presentation. I’m not into fluff just to the point, catering for also professionals and not just teens and their disposables. After shooting the rolls, I dropped my film off at the Burleigh sandwich shop on my way out to the airport. They were subsequently picked up the next day.

I must say that these are some of the best scans I have had on the Frontier, ( they give you the option to pick either frontier or Noritsu) frontier being my preferred choice for personal work. The detail, color and quality even on standard scans are top notch. They rival the high end labs back home in Melbourne.

I will be visiting and using Lazarus in future for both personal and commercial work while on the GC.

A few caveats however and things to note though for any travelers to GC; they are at least 25-30% more expensive for a dev and scan than what you’re probably used to in other states. I have used many around the country, and can say they are more expensive. Standard price going round is between $13-15 dollars for high-res scans. Lazarus is coming in at $19 at standard res.
The other point to notice is their turn around time can be between 4-6 working days, which in my humble opinion is a little long, given that there are now so many labs across the country offering same day service, for the same level of quality using the same level of equipment.

Other than that, I am happy with the results.

Amazingly talented, insightful and helpful people. The best and most professional lab in South East Queensland/Northern NSW. One of the best I’ve dealt with in all my 50 years despite their youth. Use the drop box if you must but a visit is highly recommended.
