Some of the older reviews were quite misleading.
The new management of 2025 is great. The south side is newly renovated with painted walls and clean carpet. While checking in, the management is still fixing the washing machine room, and replacing the old machines.
The individual room is simple and things provided such as fans and heater are all functioning. The kitchen is also equipped with clean fridge, microwave and oven.
The activities rooms within the village are also very useful. The pool room near the pool side at the north is fantastic.
Overall, it’s a great place to stay.

I am an ex-resident of Murdoch University Village. I was applying for a visa and was having difficulty proving my residency in Perth as I had lost some of my tenancy agreements.

Bless the admin staff of Murdoch University Village, they were patient, attentive, and expedient in gratuitously providing me a signed confirmation letter of my having resided in Murdoch University Village during my time as a student in Murdoch University.

I would add that I did enjoy my time back then, living there. For both the service, amenities and convenience.

I would whole heartedly recommend Murdoch University Village to any student of Murdoch University or any other university for that matter. You are in good hands.

The infrastructure is relatively good. The management is terrible! Our apartment bullying problem could not be solved, rather putting the blame on our side for the bullying that happened to us. F'ly not happy!

Would not recommend. The accomodation in South Village is dirty and cheap. The flats have cockroaches and other animals that fall into your coffee mug or crawl into your socks. They will send somebody to take care of it but the roaches never left. There was hair stuck on my wall, a lot of it, must have been in the wall colour. You couldn't scrape it off, it was literally stuck on the wall. Every night I would lay in bed and have to stare at all the hair on my wall. The rooms are very cold in the winter time. You are not allowed to buy or bring your own heater. The heaters that they give you do nothing and turn themselves off after a short period of time anyway. Laundry rooms were also very dirty and the washing machines were always broken. Especially for temporary international students who do not want to bring or buy furniture, this is not suitable. You have to buy everything, even lamps, bed sheets, cutlery, pots and pans etc. The rooms felt like a prison.

Been a resident for 2 years now. All was well last year but there were so many inconveniences this year, from gas leaks to power outrages, once leaving us with no gas/hot water in winter. Not to mention the lack of respect for our personal spaces even after feedback was provided.

The rooms are outdated and have no aircon or ceiling fans! and what’s worst is you’re not allowed your own personal portable aircon! it’s freezing during winter and hot during summer which makes it miserable

Admins are rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. They make NO sense with their rules and heaps of hidden messages in the contract.
Daylight robbery at its finest.

I happened to visit the Murdoch Village Admin today to meet an acquaintance who is visiting Australia at the university's invitation to present some papers at a conference. They asked us to come to the Admin office.
We arrived and while we tried to ask about his whereabouts, the lady at the reception rudely interrupted and said 'we cannot give his room number'. We'll we didn't ask for it! Then I asked if they could contact him. Again she said 'you have to call him yourself' and that too very very rudely. I just told her that she did not need to be rude and could say the same thing a bit nicely.
I wonder how they treat their students.
