Wow wow wow
The ultimate burger is so good and the fries are perfect. The staff was so nice and the wait time was non existent. Food came out fresh and right away. We were served by a nice Brazilian girl with red hair (I forget her name) but we got on to chatting about my distain for pickles. Would come back again

We had a great experience here! The food was absolutely delicious we tried two different burgers and both were amazing. But what really made the difference was the service. Even though we sat outside because we brought our dog, the staff made us feel so welcome. The person at the counter and the one attending the tables were both outstanding 10/10 service. The place has a cozy vibe, and we’ll definitely be back.

Good range of beer, however most is from other brewerys. Food is ridiculously over priced $11 for 1 woeful taco $30 for a below basic ham and pineapple pizza. Ludicrous. $50 for mixed meat platter, 6chicken wings, 2 slivers of steak and a couple of sausages, sad slad. Can't see them lasting long. +1star for being dog friendly. Won't be back any time soon.

Bit late to the party, but went to check it out on AFL Grand Final afternoon…place was absolutely packed, but we snagged a table next to the front door. Fantastic vibe, and the staff were supremely busy but very friendly…took time to talk through some of the beers as I had not heard of some of them before

Beers were fantastic, with a solid range available. I got stuck into the Status Quo (Pale Ale) and ordered from The Italian Gringo, Leigh McDivitt olives and a guacamole and chips as a starter. Both vanished quickly, so we opted for a couple of each taco (pork, fish & vego, from memory) and a Balls Deep pizza sandwich. Meatballs, cheese and a rich sauce on a pizza sandwich, and a beer to wash it down? That was enough for all of us, and we were absolutely stuffed. Wait times were pretty good, considering the number of people onsite that arvo.
All of the food was fantastic, and what makes it more impressive is the tiny kitchen space they have to work with, and everything cooked coming from a sole wood fired oven….not a deep fryer or oven in sight. Upstairs is slated to be a bistro space, so it will be good to see what Leigh produces when he has a full kitchen behind him.

The Italian Gringo himself, chef Leigh McDivitt, was under the pump when we arrived at Pickled Monkey Brewing. Not surprising—at three o’clock on a Saturday afternoon, Marrickville’s latest brewery was heaving. With every manner of designer dog running underfoot in the front bar, the kitchen was kept busy turning out sharing slabs of thick Roman pizzas topped with creamy Skull Island prawns ($35). The domed pizza oven also turns out pizza sangas, like The Bourdain ($26) sandwiching crisp mortadella, provolone, mayo. mustard and tangy pickles in folded charred pizza bread.

Not everything that comes out of this tiny Mexican-meets-Italian kitchen is a heart attack on a plate: the spatchcock ($35) flattens a juicy, whole bird over a fresh and tasty Mexican ā€˜slaw with preserved lemon dressing. You can also eat a healthy-looking zucchini taco ($8) that disguises a chalky filling of goat’s cheese with peas, pea shoots, and broad beans. Your must-eat—even if you just drop in for a an icy cold beverage before braving the queues at Shadow Baking at the Gelato Messina HQ opposite—is the lamb taco ($10). McDivitt lays a slab of meltingly tender Kinross Station lamb on a soft taco under a smear of chimichurri. Don’t be tempted to add any of the interesting range of in-house chilli sauces ($2/each): just let the marbled lamb and caramelised lamb fat melt on your tongue and see the Holy Spirit. The Akasha Super Chill Lager ($9/middy) will clean up your palate nicely.

Best news is there’s still more to come at this two-floor warehouse conversion. Currently brewing offsite, the Pickled Monkey team are laying lines and connecting up shiny silver tanks to brew their own range of beers onsite. With 19 taps here plus cocktail taps and cider, you’re sure to find something you like. Upstairs the new year should bring with it an air-conditioned everyday French bistro and a burger bar. Marrickville’s new residents of Wicks Place will be well-serviced by this craft brewery.

The food is quite disappointing, we ordered pizzas and they were poor quality. The bases were like pre-made and basic toppings. Definitely had better frozen ones in the past. It's sad as the overall place is quite nice space with great bar and service

I would recommend the pickled monkey.
Amazing choice of beers. The ones we tried were excellent. The barman was very friendly. The Pizza we had was great and served in a good time. The place is nice.

Only negative we paid more for our beer than the advertised price. Not sure if it could have been a Sunday surcharge or something. We didn't bring it up.
