Wish there was an option to put a dirty big cross to businesses like this as they don’t deserve 1 star. I notice there is quite a theme of reviews from other people and our experience seems to be of the same standard.

HUGE WARNING - do not buy second hand trucks from this business. Do not fall for the we will look after you customer promises, they do not care about you or your business. Avoid them and save yourself the headaches and tens of thousands of dollars you will have to spend to fix it!

We purchased 2 trucks from these guys and I’ll be honest, we were chasing beverage body trucks due to the nature of the needs of the business.

We were assured the vehicles were in very good condition and that Sammut would fix any issues in the first 3-6 months.

We had nothing but issues with both trucks and Sammut did fix a few issues in the first month, but the truck was off the road for a number of weeks, costing the business money daily. But the work had to be done by “their” mechanic.

We had further problems with the trucks. One off the road for weeks on end as they had to source parts which we later found out were second hand parts being striped off some other truck, being sent from Sydney to Toowoomba. When it was the wrong parts, of course we had to wait longer. Meanwhile the parts were readily available to buy new from Daimler Toowoomba and about every Daimler parts dealer in Brisbane. Meanwhile we waited for over 4 weeks of a truck off the road for them to send second hand parts to us instead of fixing it properly.

We continued to have issues with both trucks and Sammut basically refused to fix it in the end because I questioned why they were using second hand parts to “dodge” it up for a while until those parts failed and we would be on the hook to fix it again ourselves.

Of course by this stage we had both trucks off the road, we were waiting on them to fix the second one. At this point I contacted the NSW Fair Trading group because of the conduct of this business.

At this point, Sammut offered to fix one truck with its dodgy second hand parts (these correct parts had finally arrived at “their” mechanic on the Sunshine Coast after 4 or 5 weeks) but only if we signed away any rights we had to pursue them legally and withdrew the complaint with the Office of Fair Trading. By this stage though, there was something else also wrong with that same truck and we had to pay for that repair. I refused to use second hand parts and have refused to correspond with them since. Their business practices and dodgy “we will repair” promises made cheaper with second hand parts are not worth the time and frustrations when the same thing has to be fixed 5000km later because their didn’t use new parts.

This company caused both my husband and I many hours of stress during our peak time, with trucks off the road when they could have been fixed within 24hrs and back working. I wasted many hours chasing them and their mechanic for answers to be told parts were coming from Sydney as nothing was available and I believed them because this has been an issue since Covid. Instead these parts were available everywhere and they just had to save some money on sending second hand parts they striped off another truck which was probably already stuffed.

Stay away from them. Not only can you not trust a word they say, the trucks are lemons. Find another dealer.

We paid for stub axles in March 2021 which you stated you could supply for my clay spreader. We received stub axles and rims around 7 months later. These are incorrect and do not match. The stub axle does not fit the rims and the axles were a lighter grade than required for clay spreader. We are still waiting and now we are informed that you cannot supply but you still make clay spreaders. A friend has two of your spreaders and he is also unhappy with your service. It seems that your staff do not care whether they make a sale or not Prompt attention to our requirements would be appreciated.

I would give 0 stars if i could
My husband bought a truck off this man and he sold us a complete LEMON
We didnt get a chance to see it before we bought it and it was sold to us with a ROADWORTHY done by them.
The breaklines were held together with cable ties and garden hose clamps!! this thing was a rolling death trap!!
Since we have had it weve dropped almost 70k getting it up to standard.
The whole engine has had to come out with all seals and gaskets replaced.
This thing has spent more time getting repairs than working.
We have never ever had problems like this and have had multiple different trucks before.
AVOID!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

ps. Before you say you dont have my name in your systems i dont share the same surname as my husband.

I would like to thank everyone at Sammut team for helping our turf farm get up and running overnight. I called desperately to get a rare part for my harvester and everyone from the lady answering my call so quickly (even though they were very busy), amd also to Luke in spare parts who, I don't know how. But he managed to get the part overnighted to me all the way up here in Qld. Absolutely amazing work Luke. So well done Sammut Agricuture Team and to also Daniel Sammut himself who is always helping me out. I can't thank you enough.

I highly recommend this company to anyone. Because they understand the farmer.
