The Melaleuka Farm Wagyu fat potatoes, Geraldton wax maple, chive, sour cream, would not have been my usual go to as I don’t like a lot of sweet things, but these potatoes were the perfect combination of sweet & savoury. Now the hiccup!
It’s this point the ‘wheels fell off a little’. As we were looking at the potatoes left in the serving bowl, we found an unwelcome addition – a hair, darker than mine & under the potatoes. Not impressed. We waited for the service staff to return & let them know quietly of or unhappy find. We had placed the hair on one of the small paper menus & passed it to her. She was very embarrassed & apologetic. She advised she would feed it back to the kitchen, returning a little while later; again apologised & offered us a replacement dish which we declined. as we’d finished our meal.
We were left alone for a little while & we relaxed, enjoyed our drinks & chatted for a while. It was great to sit back & relax.
Onto the dessert menu. We thought we might split a dessert. They have a unique & creative dish, the Iced VoVo, coconut white chocolate biscuit, white chocolate parfait, strawberry granita, coconut.
Neither of us like white chocolate, but upon hearing the feedback from both staff we decided to give it a go. The problem with that was there were two other options we were considering; so, we threw caution to the wind & ordered two additional items, a total of 3 dessert dishes! The Iced VoVo did not disappoint. Refreshing and light with only a hint of sweetness. No overpowering white chocolate flavour & the parfit, gorgeously chilled and when a combination of all the ingredients were carefully spooned into your mouth – simply WOW! Chefs kiss!! We then attacked the Strawberry shortcake. This was perfectly constructed with the right amount of strawberry, cream, shortbread & rose meringue, with a hint of lemon as you finish. Now onto the Rum ball. Thick dark chocolate shell & when bitten, dark, rich chocolate cake explodes with spiced rum in your mouth. The rum is a very subtle taste & certainly not the rum balls of old. This was quality and it showed.
When we ready to leave & pay our bill, the staff again apologised for the wayward hair, & this is where I felt a little let down. Not once did they offer to ‘comp’ the offending dish even though we sent more than half back. I do feel like this issue was more an exception to the overall quality food. We will be back, but maybe next time, try a different dish or two. I would recommend this restaurant as a must do, even if only once a year as it was a $248.00 lunch.

Honestly sooo yummy. Freshly fried to order with really crispy batter. The fish burger, calamari and prawn twister were all pretty stand out.
Good location being just behind South Beach and 4hr free parking right outside!

A bit of a walk from the train station but worth the hike.

I had snapper and chips for $22.

Nice, light batter and the fish was fresh and cooked well. The chips were good.

Comes with complimentary tartare sauce and lemon.

Cans of cool drink are $2 which is great value.

Warm service.

Would definitely come back. Tastier and more affordable than C & K at fishing boat harbour.

During our family vacation in Perth, we had the pleasure of dining at Sealanes Cafe in the Fremantle area. The cafe's simplicity and outdoor seating were initially surprising, but the pleasant weather made it an enjoyable experience.

We indulged in their Fish (Snapper) & Chips and Fish Taco. The Fish & Chips were particularly delightful. The exterior was perfectly crispy, and the fish inside was firm and flavorful. We highly recommend it!

I really enjoy getting my fish and chips from this place.

The fish and seafood are always fresh. The seafood basket is delicious. They use Spanish Mackeral as the default fish, which is my favourite.

The chips are crunchy and cooked to perfection. Some tables are provided, a small grassed area is outside, or you have South Beach across the road.

Check their opening hours and days. Seasonal changes to their times exists.
