Shed is good, but service is rubbish!

Signed a contract with Spartan for a shed build in July 2022. We were told they couldn't give us a specific date for the installation, but 3 - 4 months was a reasonable timeframe in email communications with the office team. We then had further communications via email, which said we were looking at November 2022 for installation.
On 16 November 2022, both my husband and I had been trying to get answers regarding the shed build as we had other dependencies for our house build for the shed (power to shed and bore, etc), so we needed some information to inform our house builder and other trades). At this point nothing had been started by Spartan on our property.
Our builder also tried to call Spartan to get an answer and was told they would try to get it done in time for the handover of our house.
Slab was poured on 8 December 2022, and the shed was delivered the following week.
We were told the shed would go up the first week back in January, beginning 9 Jan 2023.
The shed was built on Monday, 23 January 2023, final handover happened on 17 February 2023.

We could build an entire house (300mtr + house) in this timeframe, but Spartan couldn't deliver a slab and shed.

The quality of the shed and build is great, we had some issues with the locks and hooks going rusty but after several calls and emails to Spartan this got replaced and rectified by the install team.
We didn't have any issues with the Shed quality, our main problems with Spartan was the lack of communication, rude/aggressive responses from them.

Both my husband and I work full time and are on the phone a lot for our jobs so can be hard to reach in business hours. We would call back or email them and then not get a timely response or would be met with attitude or some excuse from the staff for the delays. We are business people and realise that delays can happen and some of this is out of their control, however what they can control is how they communicate to customers and keep people informed about the project.

Here is an example: I had a call from Trevor (the owner and builder) at one point; he left me a message to call him back but didn't leave a return mobile number. I mentioned this in my email communication about the issues with the locks rusting and was met with a severe attitude and aggression from him, but I didn't care to enter into a fight with him; I just wanted these parts replaced. (for information - I would get 30+ calls daily on my phone, so working out his number in my call logs isn't easy. It is standard to leave your name and number on a voice mail, but apparently, I am in the wrong here!)

If they had told us up front that we would have to wait on the sheds for more than 9 - 12 months from the start, we would have been okay with that. Don't promise what you can't deliver.

As others have said, the contract and documents promised to be written and updated weekly/fortnightly, but this didn't happen. I was calling and emailing on a regular basis and was either ignored or given some excuse for the delay, including that the factory was closed for maintenance for several months (which sounded like crap to me).

My Spartan shed was built for me with very little fuss. They fitted it in so as they could and the building was, is second to none. Since 1997 I have had 4 steel sheds built, Spartan shed is the best and strongest by far. Starting with the slab wich has a footing right around, not just under the frame . The other thing I like is the slab is rebated to take the cladding which is sitting about 4 mil up off the concrete to prevent snakes, mice and rats, or rust. If the gap gets a build up of dirt etc. You can just hose it out from the inside. The frame's are bolted together using the fully welded robust plates not just joined by bolting flat piece light metal that all the other sheds I have had built. They take pride in building a very nice and strong shed. I had 5 quotes they happened to be the best price and in my opinion the best built shed. I hope this will help some people that are not sure what to get.

I found Spartan Sheds communication to be very poor and at times, misleading. Time from payment of deposit to initial start of work on site was almost 6 months. Handover was done in their town office after 8 months, rather than at site, nowhere on the handover sheet to list any defects, there has been zero response to my requests for inspection and repair of defects

I've just had a 7x9 shed built by spartan and the quality is bang on. Very neat and tidy.
More than happy with the whole process.

Nov 2022 - Dealing with this company has been the worst experience by far of any purchase I have ever made. Their communication was poor and their after sales service was nonexistent. Basically, I signed the contract on my carport based on the advice given to me by Spartan during a site visit. After the carport was constructed, the advice proved incorrect. The manager initially said it may have been an oversight and agreed to come out to the site to discuss my issue, but he never showed up on the agreed date. Then after 2 months of unanswered emails and phone calls he rings me up and abuses me. There are plenty of better options.
12/10/24 Very strange that after 2 years the builder decides to reply to my review with an offer to discuss my concerns. Thats all I wanted them to do at the time, but they never turned up as promised. Nothing was ever resolved with these people, I just paid up and moved on and found a much better company to deal with. So if people read these reviews and want to believe the rubbish they have written below all as I can says is good luck. I've wasted enough time with this.
