This resort hotel and winery combination is nestled in the picturesque countryside, making it an ideal escape for those seeking tranquility and a taste of local viticulture.

Reviews: Tathra Hill Top Retreat has garnered 6 reviews on Google My Business, indicating a reasonable level of engagement with its guest base. However, the average opinion is notably low at 1.7/5, suggesting areas for improvement in service quality, accommodation comfort, or perhaps the winery offerings.

Recommendations: For prospective visitors, it's crucial to approach the retreat with realistic expectations. Consider checking recent reviews on platforms like Google My Business for updated insights. Additionally, the proximity to the Blackwood River and surrounding vineyards could be a significant draw for wine enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. However, given the low average rating, it may be beneficial to explore other options that better align with personal preferences or higher guest satisfaction.

Characteristics: The resort's proximity to a winery offers a unique experience for those interested in wine appreciation. The tranquil setting in the hills provides a serene escape from urban life. Despite the charming location, the low rating points to potential shortcomings in the core services provided by the retreat.

Attractions Nearby: Guests can enjoy the scenic beauty of the Blackwood River region, which includes hiking trails, riverside walks, and a chance to visit other local wineries. This diversity in activities could enhance the overall experience for visitors.

Considerations: When planning a visit, it's advisable to look beyond the average rating and consider recent feedback. The resort's unique selling points, such as its location and wine offerings, could potentially offset some of the service-related issues. However, guests should be prepared for a possibly less than ideal stay based on current reviews.

Conclusion: While Tathra Hill Top Retreat presents an appealing combination of rural retreat and vineyard hospitality, the low average rating on Google My Business indicates potential concerns that prospective visitors should weigh carefully. With some reservations about the quality of stay and services, it might be wise to explore other accommodations that better match current guest experiences and expectations.

We are booked in for our annual pilgrimage to Tathra in two weeks time and so looking forward to it. We are somewhat biased having stayed here for every year (I think we missed one) since 2001. We loved the place so much we got married there in 2003. I hadn't thought of putting a Trip Advisor comment on before, however, I was about to email the owners ( I will say they are better to call but it is late in the day) when I noticed there was only one review on Trip Advisor. Whilst ideally we would like to keep this secret to ourselves, we do read other visitor comments in their visitor book and know many people agree that this small property provides a touch of paradise for many people. The owners call ahead to check our arrival and there is usually a fire going on arrival, we do prefer this venue in winter, summer is somewhat hot in this region. If you want to do anything you do need to drive, the Nannup township, Balingup, Bridgetown all not too far away, there is bush walking, wine tasting (some by appt), photography or if you actually want to do nothing, that is also why we love it, we can bring our own food or go into town, or order in from the Tathra Restaurant (there is a deadline for the Tathra meal bookings). It's great to be able to simply walk down to cafe for lunch, and watch the wrens, rufus whistlers, white eyed pardelots, new holland honey eaters, red breasted robin, splendid wrens in blue in season, and unfortunately the 28s, who not only play on your balcony at the accommodation but on your table in the restaurant. This is not a 5 star venue, but it is well fitted out, comfortable and very much one of our favourite 3 day escapes from the Perth and our real life. A simple continental breakfast is provided, however, we bring eggs and bacon to fry up in the BBQ or zap in the microwave. Even on a cold day I love ruggng up and simply watching the beauty of nature from the balcony and the changing light in late afternoon. Take some Radox for the spa, bliss!

Went there on Monday with 6 of us, had booked a table, the welcome was great but toilets were a long way over slippery muddy ground. It was raining and very cold but the fire put out very little heat and all of us were cold. The pencil hand written menu was presented to us, and was hard to read the writing. We ordered and were served promptly. The food was ok but not what I considered restaurant standard, The chicken parma my wife ordered was average and we felt less of a standard that can be bought at a pub for a lot less $ . I had a pate plate which had obviously been stored in a very cold fridge and as such the pate flavour was lost due to it being so cold. The others felt the food was ok but then I think they are easily pleased. I think it was below par. Wine selection was one red which was very rough and a dry white which my wife said was pleasant. These are made at the premises and were the only two on offer. The dining room was very dark cold and very very old.

Don’t even bother. We called the winery at 10Am to see if they’re open. The man whom answered the phone answered the phone as ‘yep’. I asked if this was the winery and he said with a long pause ‘ yep’. I said to him, ‘ok we’ll come down and buy some wine’. It took around 20mins from Nannup town to get there and there were signs saying ‘open’, although the place was obviously shut and hadn’t been open for a while. There was people in the winery house, but nobody was answering the door. I called them again and they didn’t even bother answering the phone. Extremely poor service!

We stayed at this wonderful Retreat and loved the accommodation, spa and all! Set on three levels the rooms are well set out with a lovely balcony to watch the sunset over the Blackwood, with Kangaroos, cattle and birds in abudance.

We have been there several times and the service is always indifferent, the food over priced and not up to scratch. The place has been up for sale for some time and the present owners have obviously given up.
