This open air cinema is must visit when you're in Winton. Our visit included a quick small tour of its history before we sat down under the stars to enjoy old newsreels. Depending on the night plenty of other movie nights are available, including regular John Wayne evenings

Went on a night they had a school band as premovie entertainment.
Wonderful band.
Watching the movie under the stars was lovely.
It's such a pity that the hotel next door doesn't keep their music down whilst movies are on.

How can you not give this place five stars?

Donate and enjoy an evening under the stars and in great deck chairs watching iconic movies. Located downtown in the Main Street. It’s easy to grab a meal and when you’re done just cross the street to get your best seat for a classic flick. 🍿

Make sure you also take a moment to check out all the traditional movie posters. 🎞️Loved the James Bond classic “From Russia with Love”.
Winton has been home to many movie productions so it makes sense to have their own theatre. 🎬

Definitely worth a visit when in Winton. This is by far the most charming cinema I've ever been to. As Alex, one of the volunteers said: this is the place to be, if you want to see the biggest stars in the sky and on the screen at the same time. ❤️⭐️

The historic Winton Open Air Cinema is a great historical piece that has been maintained well. We watched an old John Wayne movie, and took the free tour to learn more of the history of the place. Very entertaining.
Screenings are typically Sunday evenings and other times, to give visitors a taste of Winton’s past.

It was worth the drive up from Birdsville in a single day to watch the Nostalgia Night. Brilliant venue. Comfy chairs. Excellent selection of films and history story of the theatre. Will come back out for the film festival in 2023 (already used up my 2022 holidays).

Geraldine has first hand experience and shares her story from when she was a young girl working at the theatre for her grandfather. Amazing refurbishment to share the memories of this amazing outdoor open air theatre.
