I wouldn't shop here. Nice instruments in stock but pretty unreasonable pricing. I got new strings on my strat years ago and old mate put 2 "B" strings on it and still charged me🤨 maybe because I was young and he ran out of E string and thought I wouldn't notice or maybe because he doesn't know what he's doing. Either way not my choice of music stores as the owner is degrading toward customers and "knows best". Uptown music polished my piece, replaced that B string with an E at no cost and even gave me a new guitar pick for my troubles that weren't his fault. Lovely man that knows his stuff. Uptown music is the way to go for any instrument at a good price👌

I don’t usually leave reviews but I’m feeling really annoyed about this.
I wanted to see if I could get a kick trigger fixed. I was told to leave it there and they’ll get back to me in a few minutes about it. I left my name and number.
Got a text message to say it’s not working and not repairable.
I walked in to pick it up and got charged $25 for time with no explanation as to why it can’t be fixed. I was so shocked he was charging me that I just paid and left the store feeling very ripped off. That and his attitude really upset me.
I’m pretty bummed I went into this store at all, unfortunately.

Well I definitely will never be going to this store ever again! I live in Esperance and there is no music store there, so whenever I was on a trip to Albany I always looked forward to coming to the music store, been quite a few years since I went as I haven't been to Albany for awhile, but just went in today for a browse and try some of the bass guitars, (was looking to buy something while I was in there too) and Eric walked up to me real grumpy and told me "These are BRAND NEW instruments for people to come and test so they can buy them, not for people like you that want to come in and play them all day without buying anything" I had barely been inside the store for 10 minutes at this point, I just got up and left 🤷‍♂️

First of all, playing one of the SX basses which are pieces of crap worth like $150 barely (selling for about $400 in his store)

Second, I've been playing bass and guitar and actually many other musical instruments for 10+ years so I'm not just some loser coming in to destroy your precious overcharged crap that no one will buy (90% of the guitars and basses are the same ones sitting on the wall from atleast 6 years ago)

Third, Me/family has spent thousands of $ at his store, it's where I bought my clarinet, my acoustic bass guitar, all of my musical equipment etc, so wtf? Good to know I'll never spend another dime there again.

Guess it's lucky I didn't ask to play the Warwick sitting high up on the wall, the only good quality bass in the store, Eric's wrath would've definitely been unleashed

Definitely go to Uptown Music across the street, they may also only have some cheaper quality guitars, but pretty close to retail price, and they wanted to set me up to an amp and play without me even asking!

Such a grumpy old man with no respect for people, also, clean your instruments, the few I did get to try out were filthy from I'm guessing little kids or gross old dudes, not a good look mate.

A shop with all things musical available. The place is packed with all kins of instruments. They will order in whatever they don't have.

I remember having piano lessons here when I was 10 years old in the late 70's. The teacher was Mr Swain, who was later found to be a criminal. However this is no fault of the shop, and he was actually a good piano teacher. Just a bit of interesting history.

I don't live in Albany so all of my communication with Wakes was via email or phone. I can't recommend these guys enough! I have no clue about instruments but they helped me choose the right electric guitar for my beginner son and a beautiful acoustic for my other son. The pricing was great and they went out of their way to get my items delivered safely to me as cheaply as possible. This was a few years ago so they probably won't remember me, but I will not forget their amazing service ☆☆☆☆☆

Great if you want to pay double for off brand music gear. I understand there are freight costs to Albany but that doesn’t justify that much of a markup, $90 for a $45 pair of brushes, come on.

Delightful experience with staff who are helpful and supportive. My go to music shop. There’s nothing you can’t get … and if it’s not in stock they will order for you. Would have given 6 stars if I could !

I took my machine in with a big needle stuck under the bobbin- they replaces the needle that had fallen out of it place and even worked around some of the parts I'd failed to provide on the day.
Very crafty and intuitive- my machine works like a charm- thank you so much!
