It doesn’t look much from the outside and it is in the process of being renovated. This heritage site is a great look into how a Chinese garden was run from the early 1920’s to 2000. A self guided tour sign posted with lots of informative explanations. A bit of a sad story but we’ll worth a stop for a look.

While it may not look like much from the street, there is a nice self-guided history trail that tells the story and brings it to life. Authentic remains of a unique outback history, the Chinese fruit and vegetable garden and store in the remote outback.

The site of a by-gone era, the time of Chinese Market Gardener, Willie Mar, who was a well loved vegetable gardener in Winton, Qld. He produced, sold and delivered his produce to the locals. He lived on site and used Chinese methods of gardening in the harsh conditions of western Queensland.
The site is currently being returned to it's former appearance by local people, many of whom remember Willie Mar and want his history preserved.
It is a worth a visit even as it is now. Hopefully it will become a popular destination for visitors.
